Anthem is not really a city, although it is certainly large enough to be a small city. Anthem consists of approximately 13,000 single family homes and condos. Within the Anthem community, there are schools (public and private), shopping, restaurants, hair salons, jewelry stores, dance studios, Starbucks (2 of them), grocery stores, dentists, doctors, famers market ….. Well, I think you get the idea. Just about everything you might need is right there within Anthem. I honestly think that if Anthem WAS a city, it might just be on some list of “best places to live” that we see published every year by various entities. It’s also centrally located just North of Phoenix off of I-17, about 30 minutes from both downtown Phoenix and North Scottsdale.
Anthem has three sections, four if you count the condos separately. Anthem Parkside is the “main” and largest section of Anthem. It is mostly ungated with lower HOA fees than the other sections. The HOA amenities in Anthem include a state of the art fitness center, complete with a rock wall, heated swimming pool with a huge water slide and a kiddie splash area, 63-acre park with fishing pond, and lots of scheduled community activities and fairs. There’s even a choo-choo train ride that goes through a cave (small charge to ride). For just about $80 all Anthem residents can use these fantastic facilities. It’s really quite a bargain. If you’d like to see the facilities, call me and I can arrange a tour.
Anthem Country Club is a guard-gated golf community within Anthem with approximately 2,866 homes. All homes in Country Club are single level and many have wonderful views of desert panorama, rolling golf course greens, mountains, and city lights. The feel in Country Club is luxury, like living within a resort. It’s quiet and genteel, but also fun and social. There are two golf courses and two country clubs with spa facilities, heated pools, dining, golf pro shop, fitness centers and scheduled social activities. All residents who live within the gated Country Club section also have a social membership to the country clubs. HOA fees are higher because of this (and to maintain the gate, guards etc.) If you play golf often, you might consider buying a golf membership. Membership is with Clubcorp and includes golf privileges in several other golf clubs in the Valley. Click here for the Clubcorp Anthem web site.
The third and newest section is Arroyo Grande. It is not physically connected to the rest of Anthem, but is located about 15 minutes away Northwest of Anthem in New River. It is surrounded by open desert and all the homes have larger lots than an average new development. A big plus for people with toys, you an park your toys on your property in Arroyo Grande. Great news if you are a boat lover since Lake Pleasant is just a short drive away.
If you’re looking for less maintenance, perhaps a townhouse or “cluster home” would be a good fit. The Village at Anthem is a small gated condo (townhouse style) complex with it’s own pool and small fitness room. HOA includes water, which is a nice benefit; and residents have access to all of the wonderful Anthem amenities. There are also a small group of homes that have shared driveways and smaller “yard areas” for those who want a separate detached home but a more townhouse-like style community. (call me for details).
